Well this is a new approach for me; I started the recording process without having a song written. Just recorded some drum machine and then fooled around on guitar till it sounded ok. Added words on the fly as well. Actually, with the psych guitar up against the clean root note playin' guitar, this sounds a bit like an Oh Sees style song. But I won't call it a Thee Oh Sees ripoff, let's just say it's a little homage.
This is a new song called The Elders. It'll be on the next record, a 7 song EP due out in September or October or so. This version is just a demo, recorded in my living room on the Tascam 388. It's got that Drum Machine Sound, no dynamics whatsoever but steady as a toothache. It still sounds OK. I put some quasi-psychedelic type shit on it. Get funky, people, get funky. If you're already funky, just chill a sec.
When we recorded the last album we did another version of Flesh, Blood, and Bone with some percussion on the chorus parts. Take a listen!
Heya, check out the new video for Stupid Happy Fun. Lemme know what you think. Video by Viv G. Warren Teagarden and The Good Grief continues to do amazingly well on college radio across the country. I'm still working on getting it reviewed too, so stay tuned for updates on that. Releasing this album has been a ton work but a lot of fun too. Really appreciate the efforts of Anthony, Okay, Steven, Rich, Octavian, my dear wife, and Greg for all the hard work on that thing. It was fun, wasn't it?
But right now I'm trying to get some shows together and get some videos done. Also continuing to reach out and try to get the album covered in blogs/zines and stuff like that. And next year we're going on tour again, so that should be fun. And if all that isn't enough, I've been busy writing the next album. Damn! Until then, keep listening and and stay awesome. Yep. Got a blog going. I always used to complain about how hard it was to update my old website. Now that I've got a new site and it's really easy to update I guess I'll actually have to start doing it with some degree of regularity. Progress is painful. On the bright side, the new album is doing well on college radio. And I'll have some songs here on the site within a day or two. If there are any songs you want me to put up just let me know. I mean, my songs. Don't go requestin' no Bee Gees.

I'm a singer/songwriter from San Francisco doing punk based indie pop type stuff. I also really like cats. (The animal not the musical.) Archives
